Hey everyone I know its been a
while, I have been busy travelling and hunting for news stories. But since I
have a moment, I’ll give a rundown of what I’m been up too. I can’t believe
that three weeks have passed by! Oh how time flies!
Week 8
After my camping trip, I had a
regular week at school. Homework, interviews for my news article etc. I was
racing to get as much work down as possible because next week is non tuition
week in Australia. It’s similar to America’s spring break. I have been working like
a mad woman because my excitement was building for my trip to NEW ZEALAND.
I’m literally on the other side
of the world but there is one more place even further away, the beautiful Lord
of the Rings landscaped filmed in New Zealand.
My roommate for the past 3 years
(a lovely feisty lady) has family friends there, so we planned a trip to spend
of days with them and a few days on our on in the city.
Week 9: Welcome to New Zealand
What an amazing trip! The
highlight of my time in here was going zip lining. All of my friends and family
asked me exactly, “What is that?” The easiest was I can describe this imagine a pulley suspended on a cable, usually made of stainless steel, mounted on an incline. I have a pictures and even a video to share!
Another highlight of my trip was going to
Karekare Island, I went to a black sand beach!
The landscape is absolutely beautiful!
Week 10 Back to Work
The fun is over but I am so blessed and
thankful to have traveled even further across the world. Now, its time to earn
this amazing trip by doing my best in school. I have countless papers, research
and reading to do.
This week I wrote a 700 word paper about the
mystery of death (Australia cares about the word count not page count, this
adds a little to my stress level) then a 2,100 essay about the contemporary understanding
of grace for my Anthropology class.
This weekend I went to Rottnest Island, a 30
minute ferry ride away. It’s a nice small island filled with families. The
group of study abroad students and I rented bicycles. We took what was supposed
to be a nice casual ride around the island turned into extreme Mountain biking
(minus to mountains but there were some steep hills)
On this island there are these cute, tiny
little animals called Quokka’s. Here’s a few pictures. My dad and I joke that
it’s a cross breed between kangaroos well technically joeys and a rat. Quokka’s
are all over the island, so clearly this is not the place for my lovely mama.
After one night in a cabin, we got back to
Freo, I went for a nice four-mile run and got back to school work.
The only treat, I did was watching Grey’s
Anatomy and Scandal! Those are my favorite shows. It’s a perfect way to end the
week. Then Skype the next day to with mom about what to expect next!
